Re: Youth Problems Again

I don't get much in the way of youth problems but have experience really severe neighbour problems for the past 4 years.  I have kept a detailed diary and have been in contact with the police, and housing several times.  I have been to court several times and there is an ASBI on this person preventing him from speaking to me.  He's also prevented from walking along Plas Esyllt due to problems he caused for his girlfriend's neighbours there.  The Housing Department assured me last September (2007) that he would be moved soon.  However, he still lives here and is still causing problems (mostly drunkeness and violence).  I've been trying for the past 3 weeks to contact the Housing Officer dealing with this (firstly to report an incident, now to report 3 incidents) but Mr. Caveney of Vale of Glamorgan Council will not come to the phone and despite a policy of a response within 5 working days, I have still not been contacted 3 weeks after my first call.

Re: Youth Problems Again

Well firstly labeling kids as 'teen hoody scum' isn't really the best way of forming a bond between adults and youth.

Secondly these problems/disturbances everyones complaining about is mostly not by Dinas kids, people from ely and barry are coming down and causing problems around the neighbourhood. (police arnt really dealing with this atall)

And finally, kids at 15/16 have nothing to do on friday nights, too young for the pub but to old for a 'youth club' so there gunna get bored and maybe cause some mischief, especially when alcohol is involved.

Im 17 years old now and ive outgrown the whole 'friday night street drinking' phase but these kids dont know what else to do. I know youth clubs have been set up around and im not critisising the efforts people have put in but realisticly 15/16 year olds don't want to be doing that, But still.. whoever closed down the westley court one shot themselves in the foot cause that place was really decent.

Basically i dont think theres anything the village can do, the best idea was making the badly named 'teen shelter' at Dinas Powys community centre so atleast kids are out of the way.  What can i say, teenagers want to drink alcohol, but 90% of them are harmless.
