Hi DP's

I've just rung SWALEC and they forwarded my call to Western Power. I was trying to find out why, in the last few weeks, Dinas Powys, and especially the Murch (Murch Road, Windyridge, Camm's Corner) has had 3 power cuts.

These outages have lasted for a few seconds, 15 minutes, and this morning (04:45 to 06:15) 1.5 hours.

I am awating an update and an explanation for these outages, but their first response was due to the bad weather. This morning (when I left for work at 05:15) however there was a little drizzle and no wind as such.

I'll keep you all updated with what I find out....

A nice fella got back to me this afternoon. He said that they had tracked the problem down (at least for the Murch Road, Windyridge, Camm's Corner area) to a "joint in the cable".

I don't know the in's and outs, but apparently they are in the process of digging up the road to solve the issue. He couldn't even give me timeframe, but all he said was that the electricity supply would be interrupted again whilst the repairs were taking place.

I just hope that this time they will have the common decency to warn the residents affected so that we can all get our wind-up alarm clocks out!!! Thank goodness for mobile phones with alarm functions!

seems to have quietened down now. haven't noticed anything today.
